Beach Trip!

On Father's Day weekend, we went to Charleston, South Carolina! My sister's family and our parents went as well. We had a great time!

The drive should have only taken us 3 hours, but we had to make frequent stops with the kids. We spotted this playground at a church and stopped to let the kids play.

The first night we went to dinner at Vickery's.

In the morning, we walked the Arthur Ravenel, Jr. Bridge, which overlooks the Charleston Harbor. I think the bridge was about 3 miles long. We walked about 1 1/2 miles to the highest point and then turned around. The view was beautiful!

The next day we went to the Isle of Palms. It was beautiful, but HOT!!!!

If I could go back in time, I would try to comb Wyatt's hair a bit.

It's no use crying over spilt milk.

This doesn't apply to Wyatt! He has great reason to cry over spilt milk.
He still breaks out in hives when he comes into contact with dairy products. Somehow Weston spilled a couple of drops of milk from his cereal while Wyatt was playing near the kitchen table. Look what happened...

Crying over Popsicles!

Nathan and I took the boys for a bike ride one evening, and our ride became quite dramatic over a POPSICLE. We gave Weston a popsicle before we left the house, not thinking that Wyatt would want one as well. Wyatt had never had a popsicle, so I didn't think he would even notice it or know that it was food. Well, Wyatt started screaming for it as soon as we made it to the end of our street. Throughout the screaming, we could hear Weston saying, "No, Wyatt...it is too dangerous! It's allergic to you. You might choke on it." We kept on riding around the block, but all we could hear was screaming. We told Weston to share some of it with Wyatt in hopes that it would keep him quiet. That made Wyatt even angrier! He REALLY wanted that popsicle after tasting it!! Being a nice big brother, Weston gave Wyatt the whole thing. When Weston realized Wyatt wasn't going to give it back, he broke into tears. Nathan and I had to laugh about all of the drama we were causing in the neighborhood.

Look at our unhappy boys fighting over popsicles.

Eventually we went back to the house and gave them both one at the same time!

I will catch that rabbit one day!

Almost every morning, we see rabbit(s) in our yard around breakfast time. Weston is determined to catch one! He has been chasing these rabbits in our yard since last year. Nathan and Gage tried building a rabbit trap last summer, but we were never able to catch one. As you can see in the video, there is a small hole in the fence that the rabbits squeeze through every time. Anyway, what a great morning workout for Weston!!!

I've been trying to load these videos through blogger, but I guess they were too big. I finally decided to load them on youtube.

In this video, Weston actually has the rabbit cornered. He tells the rabbit, "It's ok...don't be afraid. I'm not going to hurt you."

History Repeats Itself!

Weston and Wyatt have two very different personalities. They are so different, it is hard to believe they are brothers! Even though they seem to be total opposites, Wyatt has done many of the things that Weston used to do. I took a few photos of Wyatt recently and they reminded me so much of Weston three summers ago.

Vacation Bible School

Last week, Weston participated in vacation bible school at our church during the evening. This year he was able to go to his classroom without a parent (sniff sniff). He attended vacation bible school last year, but the parents stayed in the classroom because they were so young. I'll admit it hurt a bit that he didn't need us this year, but we were happy to see him having a great time. Nathan and I did stick around to watch the kids during music time, but we left soon after so we could put Wyatt to bed. The class and craft time lasted about hour and he made it through each night without any problems. We were worried that his attention span would be too short, but he did fine. He had a great time! Here are some photos from last week.

The first night they served tacos for dinner.

Brandon passed on the tacos and ate cookies for dinner:)

This is a photo of the performance on Sunday...as you can see, Weston is NOT interested in being on stage.

Here are some photos of the crafts/artwork that he made during VBS.

I was surprised he colored this worksheet! I can't get him to color ANYTHING at home.
