Day 2, 3, and 4 of Swimming Lessons

On Tuesday, I was ready to quit swimming lessons before we left the house!!! Weston said he would go to the pool, but he only wanted to sit on the edge and get some fresh air :) I told him that if I drove him to the pool, he would have to sit there for the entire lesson. He was fine with that until I tried to put on his bathing suit. He started throwing a little fit, so I decided that we were going to stay home. I didn't feel like dragging two boys to the pool just so I could watch Weston argue with the instructor. Then my mom called me on the phone. She offered to come with us to help, so we took her up on the offer. When we first arrived at the pool, he went to the edge of the pool without being asked. He didn't want to get in the water, but he was happy to watch the other kids. Eventually he worked up the nerve to get into the pool... and he liked it!!!!

splashing with his feet

He held on to the edge of the pool while waiting for his turn!

He even tried the water sprinkles and loved it!!!

Day 3:

On day 3, they moved the kids into the indoor pool because it was windy. Weston was a little nervous about trying a new pool again. He ran off at the beginning the lesson so that he could ask me if the class was over yet. He was fine once he got into the pool and he seemed to enjoy it.

I let Wyatt try the sprinklers on this day and he loved it!

Day 4:

On day 4, Weston was so excited to go to the pool! He was rushing me to get ready:) I'm so glad that we decided not to quit the lessons. I may even sign him up for another session this summer because he likes it so much:)

I also bought Wyatt a bathing suit so he could get wet too.

Swim....I don't think so!

On Monday, Weston started swimming lessons. I wasn't sure how Weston was going to do in this class, but I decided to give it a try anyway. He can be really stubborn at times and doesn't mind will putting his foot down when he wants to. He assured me before we left the house that he wanted to go swimming, but I wasn't sure if he was going to chicken out once we got there. Well, he was happy to go to the pool until we told him to sit on the edge of the pool with the other swimmers. He started screaming, "NO! NO! NO! I'm NOT going to do it!!" We told him that he didn't have to get in the pool, but he was going to sit on the edge and at least watch the other children the entire time. He sat on the edge of the pool for a bit, but he was being quite difficult! If the instructor tried to speak to him, he would run away. He was also coming up with every excuse as to why he couldn't get into the pool. I must say, he was quite disruptive to the class!

pouting on the edge of the pool
Here are some of the excuses we heard him tell his teacher:
Excuse #1-I can't get in the pool because there is a little bit of black stuff right here.
Excuse #2- This sign says "NO DIVING!" I can't get in the pool!
Excuse #3- There are too many honeybugs(I think he meant a bee) in the pool.
Excuse #4-No, I am going to drown!
Excuse #5- It is too cold!
Excuse #6-I can't float because I'll splash the kids.

Weston hanging on the ladder when he was supposed to be sitting on the edge of the pool.

Finally, Weston put his toes in the water! We were so proud of this small accomplishment...until he started splashing water in the instructor's face!!!!! At that point, I wanted to walk off and pretend that I didn't know him.

Finally Nathan picked Weston up and handed him to one of the instructors. He screamed for a minute, but finally calmed down. I thought he was going to choke the instructor!

He remained calm the rest of the time and followed instructions.

I had to post these photos of Weston's first swimming lessons at 9 months.

Plum Crazy

Wyatt is really enjoying our garden this year! We found out that he is crazy about plums!

Camping In The Yard

This weekend, Nathan and Weston camped in the backyard. Actually, they came in the house around 11:00pm because Weston said he was too tired and wanted to sleep in the house :) He had a great time even though he never made it through the night!

This is Nathan and Weston killing a spider that Weston found in the tent. It was a HUGE spider. Maybe that had something to do with Weston not wanting to sleep in there!

Wyatt's Favorite Thing!

Wyatt loves spoons! He wants one in his hand at all times:)

9 Months Old!

On May 17th, Wyatt turned 9 months old! At 9 months, he is crawling all over the place and trying to pull up on everything. So far, he is doing well with being told "no" and understands what that means. He usually pulls his hand away after being told "no" a few times. Weston is LOVING the fact that Wyatt is now getting into trouble! . Weston has developed super hearing when I'm disciplining Wyatt now, and is quite nosy about Wyatt's actions. Weston often calls from another room, "WHAT'S WYATT DOING NOW, MOMMY??!! WHY ARE YOU TELLING HIM NO?! ? WHAT'S HE TOUCHING NOW??!!!" He has even started correcting Wyatt when I'm not in the room.

His 9 month photo was a sad one because he was sick:(

Weston trying to cheer him up :)

On the way to the doctor's office.
This photo was taken the day after he turned 9 months. He was feeling much better!

Just a cute photo!

Mother's Day

Mother's Day was nice, but it didn't go exactly like I had expected. Weston became sick just as we were leaving for church. He just got over a cold less than a couple of weeks ago. We took his temperature and it was 101. Nathan offered to stay home with Weston so I could be with my Mom at church on Mother's Day. Wyatt and I went to church by ourselves, so I was a little disappointed we had to break the family up that day. Oh well! We had also planned on having a picnic with my parents after church, so we gave Weston Tylenol hoping that his fever would break. He felt much better after taking a long nap so we were able to go on our picnic. The weather was perfect and we had a great time!
