Wyatt's hangouts

It is funny to think that babies spend their first several months just lying around the house. Whenever we are not holding Wyatt, we are dragging him from room to room with us. Right now he doesn't have a choice about where we put him, but we try to give him different scenery during the day. Here are some photos of Wyatt hanging out.

Tummy time! He doesn't seem to mind tummy time. I think he really likes it!

I've been hanging black and white images for him to look at in his crib. He loves to stare at them.

Sometimes he swings, but I don't think he really likes it that much.

When I take a shower he likes to take a nap in the bathroom. He loves the sound of the shower!
His favorite place is his bouncy seat, so he spends a lot of time here.

If he is awake when we read Weston stories, he snuggles in the middle of the bed with us. He is really noticing the pictures.

Nathan carries him around when we go for a walk.

When his stomach hurts, this is Mommy's favorite place!

Party at the Fire Station

Nathan and I were really unorganized for Weston's birthday this year! We were just going to have a simple party for him at the house with cake and ice cream because things have been hectic with a new baby. I asked Weston what kind of cake he wanted and he told me a firetruck cake. I told my mom that he asked me to make him a firetruck cake and she reminded me that the fire station lets anyone use their community room for FREE. I was feeling guilty for not planning much for his birthday, so it sounded like a great idea to me. The fire station is about one minute away from our house which meant that we didn't have to go very far from the house. It also meant that we could take Wyatt home quickly if he became fussy. Nathan and Weston went to the fire station to reserve the room at the last minute and it was available! The firefighters said they would even show the kids around the fire station if they didn't have any emergencies. So, this year he had his birthday party at the fire station. Sometimes things just fall into place!

Unfortunately, Weston didn't get a red firetruck cake. I thought I had "no taste red food coloring" at home, but I only had pink, yellow, green, and blue. I didn't have time to go to the store to buy some either! Weston got a yellow firetruck with pink rims instead :) I had to throw in the photo below. My mom came over to help fix the sloppy cake that I made. I discovered that I really hate cake decorating.

the blindfold didn't work so we had to use a gift bag.

Three!

Weston turned three years old on Friday, September 18th. Originally, he said he wanted to go to McDonald's for his birthday. On the ride to McDonald's he said, "I just want to go to TJ Maxx (he actually said TG Maxx) and look at the toys." We both thought that it was funny for him to ask to go to TJ Maxx for his birthday. Nathan and I told him we would take him after we ate. We decided to go to Chick-fil-a because it was closer to TJ Maxx. At Chick-fil-a, he drank his juice and then begged to the playground. He didn't touch his food but we let him play because he was so excited. There were a ton of kids on the playground and he had the best time! We never made it to TJ Maxx because it was too late.

Smiling

Wyatt started smiling a little bit a couple of days ago. I tried getting some photos of his smile but my camera has a delay on it. This is the best I could do...

One Month Old and Last Day of the Terrible Twos

On Thursday, Wyatt turned one month old. It was also Weston's last day of terrible twos. Nathan and I asked my mom to watch the kids that evening because we needed to buy Weston some presents for his birthday. Nothing like waiting until the night before to buy your son birthday presents! I think we have a good excuse this year. Anyway, my mom offered to let both of the boys spend the night so we could shop and then get some sleep. At first, I said I would bring Wyatt home after we went shopping and told my mom that maybe he could spend the night in a another month when he was sleeping better. Then I started getting a sore throat (thanks to Nathan and Weston) and decided I REALLY wanted some sleep! So, at one month old, I let Wyatt spend the night. The sleep felt GREAT!!!

Woo-Hooo- We survived the twos!!!! We ran over to my mom's house before the boys went to bed so I could get some photos of Weston's last day of being two and Wyatt's one month birthday. Weston's facial expressions were appropriate for the last day of terrible twos.

Both boys kept Nana and Papa up all night-sorry! I'm not sure if Nana and Papa will offer to keep both of them for awhile :)

The dryer trick worked

Wyatt developed a gas problem for about a week. Our quiet Wyatt turned into a screaming Wyatt. I'm not sure what was causing it, but I am praying that it doesn't come back. Anyway, the only thing that calmed him down when his stomach was hurting was putting him on top of the dryer. The doctor recommended doing this if your baby is colicky, so I thought I would try it. It calmed him down quickly and I was able to fold laundry at the same time. It worked well for me until the buzzer went off and sent Wyatt into a crying fit again. Next time I will remember to turn the buzzer off.

Fishing Again

Weston had so much fun fishing that Nathan was eager to take him again. This time Nana, Papa, and Nolan went too.

I think Weston enjoyed playing with the bait more than anything. He wasn't sure about touching the worms and minnows because they thought they were going to bite him. Eventually he worked up the nerve to do it.

Nathan caught a small fish and let Weston reel it in.

Wyatt slept on Nana's lap the entire time.

First Visit to Church

Wyatt made his first visit to church on September 13th. He slept the entire service!
