The things they do for fun!

One of the things that amazes me most about kids is what they find entertaining. Some of my best times with Weston are when I just sit and observe him for awhile. I can't help laughing at the things that he does to occupy his time. I will share a few of the things that I think are humorous.

Putting Things in Strange Places
I am not sure why he enjoys putting things in strange places. I am constantly finding things in the oddest places. I find his blanket in the pots and pans. He puts my toothpaste in the closet and my shoes in the clothes hamper. I have found cookbooks in the dryer and lotion under the couch etc... Recently, he has put all of his letters in my cooking utensil drawer, his tractors in my houseplants, and tampons in the bathroom windows. Here are a few photos of him stashing things away.

Jumping Off of His Potty

Our pediatrician recommended that we get Weston a potty so that Weston will become familiar with it before we potty train him. We haven't made any attempt at potty training Weston. However, he has been getting some use out of it because he has turned it into a toy. He drags it in front of the mirror, climbs on top, and then jumps. After falling, he asks himself if he is "OK? all right? OK? all right"

Putting on my Sunglasses

I know that many kids like to put on sunglasses. Weston does too. It makes me laugh because he is so serious when he checks himself out in the mirror. I had a hard time holding back my laughter when he says he looks "nice" and when he gets mad because he can't keep them on.

Thank goodness we have started a new week!

The past week has been extremely busy for us. In the last 7 days we have painted our shed, stained our deck, pressure washed our driveway and porch, dealt with stomach viruses, and bought a new vehicle. We were not very happy with the "deal" we were getting on the vehicle so we took it back and decided to wait for something better. I also started my second semester of online classes and I have already dropped a course and added a new one. After this week, I am not sure if I want to keep these two courses. Summer semester is only 8 weeks long which means you have to cram everything into a short time period. I am not sure if I am up for that! Right now I should be working on homework/housework but obviously I am avoiding it.

We have had a very hectic week, but we did manage to relax a little. We had a cookout, went swimming, and took a few bike rides. Here are some photos of some our more relaxing times.

Weston in his bike trailer

When Weston saw Brandon at Nana's he didn't want to stay in the trailer.

Weston and his new swimsuit. We bought rash guards with long sleeves this summer because Weston burns so easily. Weston hates when I put sunblock on him. This cuts down on the amount of sunblock I have to apply. Thank goodness for the surfer look! He can still look fashionable while protecting his skin.

We found a frog hopping around our pool so we let Weston examine it. He loved it until it hopped a little too close to his face.

Nana bought a mini pool for Weston. Here he is playing and eating ice cream at the same time.

Mess

I found Weston sick in his crib Monday morning. He had thrown up, but hadn't even called for help or sympathy. He usually calls for me as soon as he wakes up. Actually, I didn't even know he was awake until I heard him sneeze so I peeked in his room. I walked over to his crib and he said, "Hey mama!" He sat up smiling and I noticed his hair, sheet, and blankets were covered with throw up. I have no idea how long he had been sleeping in that! I pulled him out of the crib and he pointed and said, "Mama! Oh no! Mess!" That was enough to make my eyes tear up a bit. Poor thing was worried about making a mess! His stomach virus has lasted the entire week, but he has remained in a good mood. Not quite himself, but he hasn't whined a bit. Hopefully he will back to normal tomorrow.

Brandon's Pre-K Program

We went to see Brandon's end-of-the-year program this morning. Weston hopped in the car quickly when I asked him if he wanted to go see Brandon. Weston really enjoyed the first part of the program when the kids sang. He even tried to copy some of their hand movements.
After about 30 minutes he was ready to go so I let him walk around the school. We made it back in time to see Brandon get his award for best artist and to see him romancing a girl during a dance. Here are some photos of today.

Brandon, we love you and we are so proud of you! Congratulations!

Lunch at Panera

We met Nana, Aunt Tammy, Nolan, and Brandon for lunch. Weston wanted to show off a little so he spit his iced tea all over his white t-shirt. He thought he was funny and started laughing. Everyone tried to keep a straight face even though we thought it was funny too. He shook and said, " brrrrrrrrr, cold." Then he had the nerve to ask me for a TOWEL! I thought I had seen and heard it all today until he asked me to take him to get some refried "beans" and a "pop" from the Mexican restaurant on the ride home! My answer was "NO!"

Look at the tea all over his shirt!

Mother's Day At the Zoo

The zoo is one of our favorite places to go. This will make Weston's 4th trip to the Riverbanks Zoo. When we woke on Sunday morning, it was storming and it didn't look as though we were going to get to go to the zoo. We were all so disappointed because the weather channel said it would be storming until 7:00 p.m. It stopped raining around 10:00 so we packed up and went to the zoo. It was actually nice because it was cloudy for a couple of hours making it a little cooler. The gorillas are my favorite animal to watch. Weston really liked the petting zoo with the cow and goats. I think his favorite attraction was the aquarium and the playground.

this photo is one of my favorites!

He has puffy cheeks because he was trying to eat like the elephants!

Having to squeeze a mother's day hug out of Weston!

Feeding the goats

He tried to make friends with every kid that he ran into.

He loved the playground! He just kept climbing up the stairs and sliding down all by himself. Here he is sliding and saying "eeeeeeee"

Finally, we rode the carousel. He was so sleepy that we couldn't get a smile out of him!

Our Hotel Stay in Columbia S.C.

We stayed the night in Columbia on Saturday. Weston was fascinated with our hotel. There were a lot of new things for him to explore. Weston wanted to visit with every person he saw in the lobby. He almost climbed into a man's lap when he was trying to eat. He also had a lot of new things to play with in our room. Nathan pushed him around on a rolling ottoman and the luggage cart.
