Little monkey

Last week Weston's climbing was driving me crazy. This week he has discovered how to swing. He likes to swing from our pedestal sink and the kitchen table. He has tried other pieces of furniture around the house but he can't manage to get the kind of swing he gets from the table and the sink. Today I caught him doing a one-handed swing from the sink while yelling "ooohh yeeeeeeaaaaaaaa!"

Spaghetti! Amen!

Spaghetti is one of Weston's favorite foods. He will only eat it if it is homemade. I have tried giving him the kind from a can or a jar but he will not touch it! Yesterday I made some and he was so excited that he kept saying "Amen!" This is what he says when he smells something good or if he is hungry and wants something to eat. You can see in the photos that he liked it so much he almost ate his hand in the process!

Checking on our fruits and vegetables

Weston and I check on our fruits and vegetables two or three times a week in our backyard. It is always exciting to see what they are going to look like. Everything looks really great this year. Our tomatoes haven't grown a lot but our peaches, plums, and blueberries are bigger than ever. I am not sure if we are going to get to eat any of the fruit because Weston likes to pick ALL that he can reach. I have a hard time telling him "no!" If Weston only knew how furious we were at our dog for pulling up an entire blueberry bush and chewing off half of our plum tree! It is amazing how tolerant we have become. I took some photos of him picking plums. I also posted a video of him finding a bug on one of them . You can't see the bug, but you can hear his response to it.

18 month check up

Weston will actually be 19 months tomorrow but his 18 month appointment was today. This visit was quite different than the rest of his appointments. He hung on to me to every time the nurse or doctor came into the room. I think he is traumatized by the last trip to the emergency room. He refused to lie down on the examining table so we were forced to pin him down to measure him. He kept saying, "All done! Bye Bye!" Then came the shots! He usually just whimpers a little but today it was a loud scream. I felt so sorry for him. He quickly cheered up when he remembered there were lollipops at the counter. He calls them "pops". They even had Elmo stickers beside them so that made him really excited. On our way out he offered to share his "pop" with a stranger. I guess he didn't hold any hard feelings about the shot. Weston weighs 26lbs. 11 oz.(60%) and he is 33 7/8 inches tall (85%). His height usually goes off the charts but not this time!

Climbing

I feel like I am reliving the stress of Weston learning to crawl and walk all over again. We now have a climber in our house. Weston wants to climb everything and it is freaking me out! He climbs up the toilets, benches, coffee tables, fireplace, beds, kitchen table etc... I don't feel like I can leave him alone for one second. Well, a couple of days ago, Nathan was getting his bath water ready and he managed to climb up the sink and turned on the hot water! Nathan was in the bathroom when he did this but he did it so quickly! Yesterday, Nathan left one of the bathroom doors cracked while he was taking a shower and Weston slipped into the bathroom and climbed up the sink again! I was in the kitchen and I heard a loud noise. I ran upstairs and found Weston in the sink. He had thrown our ceramic soap dispenser! Nathan didn't even know he was in the bathroom until that happened! I know that I am going to have to move some of our benches and shelves to keep him safe, but what do you do with the kitchen chairs? He knows that he can push them anywhere and climb up whatever he chooses.
Today, I found one our stools in front of the washing machine after I went to the bathroom! Luckily, he did not climb it but it certainly looked like the thought had crossed his mind. I guess I shouldn't be surprised! According to Nathan's parents, Nathan was a climber too. They used to find him on top of his dresser-asleep!

Gardening

It doesn't look as though we are going to have another freeze so we decided to get our garden planted this weekend. Our morning started with a nice breakfast in our backyard. Weston hardly touched his breakfast because he was ready to get busy doing something. We left him in his pajamas because we knew whatever we put on him was going to get DIRTY. They were already filthy. Weston spent most of the time rolling all over the garden like a pig. So funny! Dirt was everywhere! We planted squash, zucchini, and tomatoes. It started raining before we could plant our peppers. Maybe tomorrow we can finish. I am sure Weston will not mind! I knew he was going to love gardening!

Having A Fun Spring Break With Cousins and Uncle Bill

Nolan and Brandon come to visit us all the time. Weston is in luck this week because they are out of school for spring break. Yesterday they came over early and he was thrilled! They played for awhile and then we all went to the school playground. Uncle Bill from Oregon came too. He didn't know that he was going to have to spend his vacation with three boys!

It is almost impossible to get a group photo of them!

Cleaning up for Nana and Papa

My parents are coming to stay with us for a couple of nights. We have relatives from Oregon coming to visit for the Masters and they will be staying at my parents' house. My parents are going to use our guest bedroom so we wanted everything to be nice and clean for them. Even Weston tried to help with the cleaning. He got out his dog vacuum cleaner and vacuumed the den. He did this until he decided he wanted to get into the fireplace AGAIN!

This is his "trying to be cute so he won't go to time out" look!

Golfing

Weston has discovered that he likes to golf. He will spend a good 15 or 20 minutes swinging at a golf ball. Here are some photos of him with his golf club. Nana bought him some plastic golf clubs that are more his size but he prefers the real club.
